• HMS Endeavour was launched in 1765. She was prepared three years later for an expedition under the command of Captain James Cook. On this voyage he mapped the entire coastline of New Zealand, and was the first European to sight the eastern coastline of Australia. This model is a faithful replica from Artesania Latina of the captain’s longboat in which he would have first landed at Botany Bay, where modern Sydney in Australia now lies.
